이주희 「겹, 소리, 시간」- 마음에 머무는 순간들

작가노트

살아가며 마주하는 매 순간의 마음의 소리들... 그리고 어느새 사라져가는 감정의 잔상들.

저는 그 조용한 소리들을 오래 바라보았습니다.

그것은 단어가 되기 전의 감정이고, 말로는 설명하기 어려운 내면의 떨림이며, 순간을 지나가는 작은 파동입니다.

그 소리들을 담아내기 위해 떠올린 그릇이 바로 달항아리입니다.

완벽하게 대칭되지 않아 더욱 인간적인 곡선, 여백을 품고도 묵직하게 존재하는 달항아리는 감정을 담고, 시간을 머금으며, 무엇보다 한글이라는 언어를 품기에 충분한 그릇이었습니다.

한글은 소리와 뜻이 함께 머무는 언어입니다.

저는 그 울림을 물감의 결로, 층으로 쌓아가며 시각적 언어로 번역해 나갑니다.

획 하나, 점 하나에 마음이 머무르고, 가는 실처럼 쌓인 물감의 레이어 속에서 보이지 않는 감정은 조용히, 그러나 선명하게 드러납니다.

사라지기 전의 감정, 잊히기 전의 순간을 붙잡아 달항아리라는 시간의 공간 속에 머무르게 합니다.

이 조용한 그릇 안에는 한 사람의 기억이, 감정이, 그리고 말로 다 하지 못한 마음의 소리가 있습니다.

이 전시를 통해 여러분 각자의 마음속에도 잊고 있던 감정 하나가 조용히 떠올라 또 하나의 '한 글자'가 되기를 바랍니다.

Artist's Note

As we live, we encounter countless emotions - 

soft murmurs of the heart, fleeting impressions that quietly pass us by.

I have spent time listening to those inner vocies.

They are emotions before they become words, 

sensations that rise and fade, 

echoes that resist explanation.

To hold those intangible feelings, I imagined a vessel: the moon jar.

Imperfect in symmetry, yet complete in its grace, 

the moon jar holds space, stillness, and presence.

It embraces emptiness, 

inviting interpretation - a quiet form, deeply human.

To me, the moon jar is a vessel for emotion, for time, and above all, for Hangul, the Korean alphabet - a language where sound and meaning live together.

In my work, each brushstroke builds upon another, like threads of white gently over time.

Within these layers, emotions are translated into a visual language.

A single stroke, a single dot - they become places where feeling rests.

My practice is both design and record.

It holds onto what might otherwise fade: a passing feeling, a moment we long to keep.

Inside this quiet vessel live memories, unspoken thoughts, and the quiet echoes of the soul.

I hope this space allows you to rediscover a long-forgotten feeling of your own -  a small voice within, waiting to become a single word.
