Established in September of the year 1997 as the first provincial symphony Orchestra, currently the fifth generation conductor, Dong Shin Lee, along with the orchestra are embarking as the leading symphony Orchestra with sprightful effort. The Gyeong Sang Buk-Do Provincial Symphony Orchestra performs diverse cultural and musical contents so that all the people of the province may enjoy a healthful life filled with cultural pride. The orchestra visits areas where cultural awareness may lack, such as hospitals or sanatoriums, to heal the mind and soul of those who reside there as well as plant hope into their hearts. It also plays a dynamic role for industrial laborers that they may create creative economy. Additionally, the orchestra is the first to perform aboard a ship on the coastal waters of Dokdo Island for the protectors of the island, and in 2013 were lavishly praised for the joint recital with the Turkey Istanbul CRR Orchestra at the worldwide cultural EXPO.S
